Beginner Board Dilema

Hi Folks.

I'm pretty new to boarding (5 week-long trips in the last 5 years). Anyway, a couple of years ago I got a used Salomon Special 2 for a great price so I used it on my last 2 trips. I have found it to be a bit stiff and cumbersome and not sure if it's the board for me. I've since read that it's a great board for speed but, since I'm still learning basic technique, maybe it's not ideal.

I've seen the Volkl Spade on sale for around £170 and the few reviews I can find on it say that it's a great beginner to intermediate board.

Anybody have any experience with the Volkl Spade? Should I go for the Volkl or stick with the Salomon? I do mostly groomers and the odd kicker but not really into park stuff......yet.

OR.........Do I opt for a Rome Garage Rocker??!!

Hope someone can help cos I'm off to Les Deux Alpes in 3 weeks time.

I suggest anything from a reputable brand, either a rocker or flat camber for a decent price. The big thing is to figure out why the current board is cumbersome. Is it the board itself, or is the board the wrong size for you? Make sure you get a board size that fits your weight, etc. so you don't make that mistake again.

I have a Dinosaurs will Die Genovese which is a flat cambered board, and I'm digging the flat camber myself. It seems to be a good balance between rocker and camber.
