Hi, I am a beginner, and it has only been my seccond time riding and i love it. I now want a board for myself and need some help. i saw some people mention getting the burton clash and also the custom is really a great board. I just want some expert opinions. I am 6 feet, 200 pounds. and if i can get this Salomon Men's Ace Snowboard - Dick's Sporting Goods for $150 is it a good deal?

What type of riding do you do? If you freeride, 156 is definitely on the small side for you. For freeride, I'd be looking in the 160-162 range if I was you. 156 would be a good size for park riding, but the Ace wouldn't be a good choice for that.
In short, I'm not sure this is a good fit. If you post up what type of riding you like to do, I'm sure you'll get some good suggestions from people who are a lot more knowledgeable than me. |

yup hes got a point. if u weighed 145 then yea, a 156 would be good for you. If ur new to the sport then i doubt that you'll be hitting the park right away, so im guessin that u gonna need an all mtn board and for ur weight / height, a 160-163 would be my recommendation.

Smaller boards r usually for park riding because they are lighter and more meneuverable.
Longer boards are for free riding and all mtn riding because they are more stable at speeds and control. But keep in mind, as you progress then these rules may or may not apply to you anymore. For 6 ft 200lbs, get a medium flexing board at 160-162cm ( 163 MAX ), the reason you want a softer board is because u will learn on it quicker because it is easier to ride on |

sorry if i pissed anyone off, but here is the thing. when i ride my friend's burton canyon 157, it felt alright but it was the only board i tried so i wouldn't know what's good. Also it seems like all te boards on sale now is 158 and rarely any 160 or higher. I know i am a beginner and dont want to spend way too much on the first board i might mess up on.
