Hi guys,
Firstly, this is my first post to the forums. And thank you in advance for your responses. I need advice since none of my friends are winter/snow enthusiasts. We live in the midwest, not too many hills/mountains where we live therefore not too many opportunities to go out an carve some powder. Any whoo, this year I've decided to buy my own set up. Am on a strict budget since I want to get away with the least expensive board possible (ebay auctions tend to be able to allow one to get away with a steal). Background: Beginner experience level. Weight fluctuates: 184-190 lbs Snowboot size 10 Have hit the slopes 3-4 times. Love to just cruise down to the bottom of the hill. Not looking to do jumps/rails in particular. Torn between which board to get. Saw a few that caught my eye: Atomic Kung Pow Freestyle $105 (158cm, 25.5cm wide at the center). Salomon Loft Freeride $130 (160cm, 10.5" width at the center) Any opinions about which way I should go freestyle of freeride and also opinions about the boards? Thanks! I can stretch my budget even though I'm already spent on boots, helmet, pants and a jacket. But sellers claim these boards retail(ed) for $400+ and they're auctions are averaging around $120 +/-$15. Are these boards any decent? Or am I being taken for a sucker? Thanks!

the sale starts tomorrow. most are 400+ but they're also mostly pretty good quality. It's a canadian store, but they do ship internationally, just the the american stores that can't ship some brands to canada, canadian stores can't ship some brands to the states or other places
also, don't forget about the exchange rate to save a couple bucks also Last edited by m_jel; 12-16-2009 at 06:10 PM. Reason: exchange rate |

it cost me 30 bucks to ship my board and bindings to saskatchewan from quebec (i think thats where their actual store is?) so it should be about the same for you, maybe a bit less if your just getting a board. It was fed ex'ed and came within a few days, very quick.
