New blem board - is this an unfinished topsheet?

TL;DR I bought a 'New Blem' board when customer service couldn't identify anything wrong. Top sheet looks strangely matte and unpolished, compared with another user's board. Is the blemish an unfinished topsheet?

...

Posted this in my thread about buying new gear but was hoping people could opine since I'm a noob.

I bought a 'New Blem' Yes Typo from Evo recently. Before purchasing, I asked customer service if they could let me know what the blem is before I purchased. They contacted the warehouse staff, who checked the board and couldn't tell anything was off. So I placed the order.

Got the board earlier this week, everything looked fine to me while it was in the plastic wrap, took off the plastic and the topsheet looked strangely matte to me. I've only had experience with rental boards and shopping for boards but from my experience they've all had glossy tops.

Compared photos with @DavidPham and his board looked like it had a different topsheet finish. I've posted his photo first and then the rest are mine, with/without flash. Looks like his board looks polished while mine doesn't reflect at all (even when hit by direct flash) and feels like a wood surface. Graphics also look slightly blurry when you get up close.

Is this a blemished topsheet?

Well if it's only 20 bucks...

I bought a blem Forum Destroyer from Evo once and there was nothing wrong with it. I remember the blem was the little Forum brandings on the sidewalks were smudged, or something really minor like that. I rode the shit out of it from day one because it was supposed to be blem anyway and ended up really improved my riding. Another way of looking at the situation.

I actually just called the other shop where I can buy a new board for $20 more than the blem one, and the staff told me the topsheet of the Typo is supposed to be polished.

I guess this answers my question and I'll be going with a new board. Thanks all for the opinions!

Haha, I've had like 14 boards now. I would put the extra money towards cheese burgers and appreciate the extra grip you will probably get from the matte top sheet while getting off the lift :)

You gotta do you though. I understand it's easy to obsess about boards early in your snowboarding career (or later for that matter).
