Another board purchase decision TRS vs Ultrafear

Ok so before anyone says it. Yes the 2 boards Ive narrowed it down 2 are totally different.

I currently ride a dc XFB - its a solid plank in my opinion.

Im looking for some more flex and a more park (intermediate jump) targeted ride.
Something more playful than the plank.

I picked the TRS on its all mountain feedback but really im an Aussie. all mountain in the real world is not a bunch of icy or slushy groomed runs which is all victoria has to offer

The ultrafear is a pick because its more park orientated and playful also lite. but going from my plank to this o dont want to feel like ive totally lost stability.

Advice . Il even take other board suggestions
anyone with experince on TRS on kickers / playin round the mount or ultrafear hitting good speeds would be ideal

Thanks

If the key things you like about the TRS are RC and Mag then I would replace that with a Niche Aether. More snap with a better Mag profile that actually matches the way RC pressures your edge.

If you're looking for something not camber dominant: Rome Mod Rocker, Niche Knew, or Arbor Westmark. I'd ride any of those every day. Do ride the Niche.

For something more camber dominant: Ride Kink, Lago Double Barrel, Yes Basic or Jackpot, or a Flow Whiteout.

Now, if you peoples down there are about to get 2017 releases, I don't remember if that happens now for you guys, then this list will get tweaked.

Thanks for info
I admit I know bugger all about Niche boards.
The yes jackpot was on the list but cant seem to find my size 148 at a decent $$.
Aus has been sent the 2017 boards. Ultrafear (seen it) no difference .
TRS (i believe) they got rid of magna traction / possibly just extremely mild unless u get the HP model which still has standard mag

thanks Linvillegorge
Strangely im going to ask for your reasons but I do hope that "all day" is exactly your reason.
I want a board that feels comfortable everywhere as I do ride everywhere

Noticed i should have some specs here
intermediate rider (~70 days riding)
no jibbing ( not interested)
small to medium kickers (20%) - will increase
groomers and as many sneaky tree runs as i can find on my local mountains the rest of the time

To be perfectly honest, I think the TRS is the most overrated, overpriced board on the market. An extruded base on a board that's $500+?! That's just embarrassing. As far as I know, the TRS is still rocking an extruded base churched up with some slick marketing jive. It's bullshit.

To be fair, it's been a couple years since I've been on a TRS, but that was a pretty lifeless, uninspiring ride. The Ultrafear is a great board. I don't much care for true twins, but if you want a twin it's a good all around board. Based on what you've said for your riding preferences, I wouldn't really be looking at true twins for you. IMO, the vast majority of riders would be better off on a directional board but there are riders who simply do prefer twins.

Totally disagree with all of this.

yer I know what you are saying in terms of overrated (ive got a pretty good deal lined up on either of these boards hence focusing on the 2
Base doesnt bother me too much though ur right at that price not sure why they went with TNT (lib jargon for not sinthered)
That said im ok with it has i dont intend to break any sound barriers
$400 US for 14/ 2015 new TRS or 2016 ultrafear

Un inspiring lifeless is not what im after (i was expecting hibrid cam to be the total opposite of lifeless

I would like to move to true twin I have a mild directional at the moment that I have set up as centered as possible + i ride pure duck +12 -12 which from what I understand is more suited to true twin

Either way thanks for the feedback (do u ride an ultra?)

If you want something lively and versatile for Aussie conditions, I'd go for a Yes Typo or Rossignol One. Camber dominant with edge tech and minor set back but still playful enough.

Thanks for the feed back guys
I m a bit worried about edge hold hence the lean toward trs (sales gimick or not I would expect almost too edgy on a 1415 trs)
Yes typo (was orginally on the list cant find one in a 149.

Forgot to mention im a fly weight

Great to hear from an ultrafear rider i dig everything about it just worried its a huge difference from the current super stiff plank

TRS in the 148 is considered a medium though I here its bit more on the stiff side.
ultra capita rate it at 5.5 but i had a look at the board in store and no way its a 5.5 on a lib scale.

Decisions decisions

Thanks SG
It is intended as a replacement as i will sell the DC - dont think i ride enough to keep multiple boards.
That said replacement i still want a different board (more flex and most importantly versatile )

The twin decision is based on being a little easier to ride switch though i agree twin is not necessary to ride switch.

No powder to speak of in aus so the set back stance benefits aren't as important imo (though i am here for others opinions)
