I LOVE my new JJ!!! :jumping1: Acquired it right @ the end of the season so only got to stick 'er in the snow maybe 2-3 times! (...a couple of them were sum good late season freshies tho, so no complaints!) :cheer:

Initially I bought a JJ Flagship 163! Absolutely BEAUTIFUL board!! Unfortunately,.. It turned out to be just a tad too much board for me atm! :( (...way too stiff for me & the majority of conditions and terrain I get to ride around here!)

I returned and exchanged it for the 161 Explorer! (Thank God for REI!) :D. The Explorer turns out to be a MUCH better fit for my present skill set! Still has the cam-rock profile I wanted, same set back stance & lifted nose shape that the FS had,.. altho with a slightly less aggressive bend to the camber section. It's still a nicely stiff board but without that "riding a barn door" feeling I got from the FS whenever I slowed down on mellower slopes! (...even considering that über stiff, plank-like feel to the FS, it felt amazingly nimble at speed on the tiny sections of "steep" we can manage at our tiny vert resorts.)

I hated returning the FS, but I think I made the right choice for my skillz progression. First day out on the Explorer,.. I managed to crack my entire seasons top speed without even trying. It feels stable, fast, and I can't wait to get 'er out in sum real terrain next season! (...PNW trip will be the real acid test for myself AND the Explorer!!!

Btw,... Altho @neni has been mia 'round here for a couple days now,... you can pretty much bet she'll be on this thread like a shot when she returns!! ;) That Girl (...along with maybe @Rogue) is a true Jones guru/aficionado!

I wanted a reg width camber/camber dominant board to replace my 163W 2011 Arbor Roundhouse. I learned to ride with full camber, and after a couple seasons of riding on a shorter cRc deck,.. I really wanted another long, stiffer camber deck to push myself on.

And while I still love my '12 157 Proto CT. As I was progressing and getting more & more comfortable with speed on steeper runs, that cRc profile was starting to feel a bit squirrelly on hardpack & groomers when going balls out! (...The Proto is still sweet as shit in poo or a few inches of fresh tho!) And the wide Arbor, altho still a lot of fun in the chunky spring slush moguls. Being a wide deck & me wearing size 10.5 boots? It was just too much work to get on edge in anything but freshies or slush. It was killin' my feet! lol

I really think the Explorer is going to be the right stick for me to progress from here on. (...still gonna keep the Proto to butter, spin & play on!) >:)

Lol, voilà

'13/14 Solution 156 - for sale
'13/14 Mothership 156 - retired
'15/16 men's Flagship 154 - in use

'15/16 women's Flagship 152 - in use
'15/6 women's Solution 152 - in use

First time I put a foot on a Jones Flagship, I just felt @ home (was a men's 158 in '11 on a demo; bought the board right then without knowing much about it). Since then, I went through couple of width adjustments; go-to boards now are the women's 152 Flag and Solution.

Simply love the Flag; its shape just fits like a glove. Wish, the women's would be tad stiffer, but the width of the men's just didn't fit my feet as well as the women's. But that's in the splitting-hairs section of complaints ;).

Each time I try other boards, I may think yeah, nice ride as well... but strapping onto the Flag? Yeah, that's my board. Sure, it can be bit rough at times in bumps, but in all other terrain n conditions I ride, I love it's precision and reliability. Even though there would be other decks in the quiver, I end up riding the Flag every day, so yeah, favourite deck for sure.

And no, I don't ride 60° faces (yet :D).

Lol, these were only just mine ;). In the "family quiver" there'd be two more :) (hubby rides a '14 Carbon Flag n Solution 164).

I'm sort of astonished you took the TS instead of the Flag for that trip, especially after seeing the faces you rode :)eyetwitch2::rock:). What made you choose that way?

I'm awaiting my 2017 Jones Flagship to replace my MFG defect 2016 165W Flagship.

I couldn't figure it out, no matter how I set it up, I seemed to be getting too much chatter when riding. Tried all sorts of setups and stances... then I finally inspected it... there was an odd ripple in the base all the way from tip to tail. Very odd. The whole process has been a hassle, but I'm looking forward to my 169W Flagship sometime next month or early October.

I rode the 165W last year and wanted to go bigger with this replacement, so I'm going with the 169W.

I am considering a 165w Flagship for this season. Historically I have ridden 168/169 wide Trad. Camber boards. Last year I rode a NS 169 ChairmanX , but was not too happy with it. I don't like the feel of rocker between my feet. While I adjusted to it, I can't say I ever got to really enjoy it. I am looking to try a Cambered board with small rocker tip and tail like the Flagship. My inclination is to go shorter with the 165w as I understand these boards are designed to be ridden as such. I am curious to know why you are going longer? You have me questioning my decision

I am 6'2" and 195lbs

I'm thinking about Hovercraft. I love pow riding and just riding too. I reaaally want to buy flagship or ultra aviator but these stuffs are too expensive for me :(
I used rome anthem before. How about Hover!? I'm worrying if there would be many difficulties riding Hover.
If I want to get two rabbits; pow and carv, is Hover wrong answer?

I'm 5'6" and 130lbs. too light for man.

And! My foot size is 7 us size. Is it ok if I buy a women's flagship 152?

What's your barefoot length in cm?

I've 24.5cm feet and the 152 women's Flag is still on the wide-ish side, there's enough width for bigger feet.
It's a sweet board for a light guy, for sure. You find a review in the women's board section on it.

What exactly do you mean with extra catch? I don't remember anything I could relate to that term

#46 ·
When exiting a carve, it felt like the back-end would have an extra catch I wasn't quite used to sometimes. A couple of times early on with the board I wasn't expecting it, it almost felt like it launched me airborne a small amount going into my next turn, it was an odd feeling. Am I explaining it well enough? Probably not, sorry!

Hmmm... seems as of I'll get such a '17 spoon thingy

Love to go shopping with a long shopping list and be able to negotiate prices of a fairly big stack and sneak in an additional board almost for free

Yeah, me too. When's your first ride going to be? Curious about your take.

Got animated by @Nivek to give NOW bindings a try. Need to remind myself to try the new board with the familiar bindings first to be able to determine the difference the spoon makes and only afterwards try the new bindings, first on the former board. Lol, there'll be a lot of screw driving those first season days :)

Pretty stoked how nicely the NOW Conda match by chance to the colors of the new Flag

Yay, UPS was damn fast :yahoo: the new ladies in the quiver!

Super stoked abt the women's Flag. Beautiful board and feels intuitively "right".

Not sure yet what to think abt the NOW bindings; seems as if the highback can't be rotated. Well... ain't got super steep angles anymore so they'll probably be fine.
Can't wait to get the set-up out.

The Carbon Flag has a pretty funky topsheet depending on the light angle either black or checker:

That carbon flag is looking pretty attractive. I've been toying with the idea of getting an Aviator but now I'm thinking maybe CF...
