Snowboard widths for tiny feet?

Hey everyone,

I’m looking to buy my first snowboard, boots and bindings (aiming for all-mountain) and am in the preliminary stages of researching gear. I’ve been reading the buyer’s guide in the pinned post and have a question relating to this… “We highly recommend that riders do not choose boards where their feet do not come to or exceed the real board width”.

I have tiny feet for someone of my height and weight. I’m 161cm tall, weigh 57kg and my feet measure 230mm. From what I’ve seen while browsing online stores, the shortest women’s boards have waist widths that start at 232mm. My inexperienced guess is that the width of the board is even wider at the inserts, and I haven’t even taken into account angle of foot placement. How important is it to match a board with the correct waist width (i.e. high/low priority when choosing a board)? Will I be able to find the right board to suit me?

I know I’m jumping the gun here and that I should focus on buying boots first, but there’s no harm in looking at boards too right? :p I’ll also be going to Melbourne in the next month so I’ll be popping into the shops while I’m there to get properly fitted into boots.

P.S. I currently live in Adelaide, Australia so there isn’t much choice for snowboards in shop. I’m also in no rush to purchase a board immediately, as the season in Australia has coming to an end, so this is in preparation for next year’s winter.
