Wide board ??

I have only snowboarded a couple of times and used rentals. No park for me, just like to cruse down the mountian.Anyway I'm 5'10,180lb,size 10 boot.My friend has a 160 "wide" snowboard that I can use this year. Not being that big I was woundering if this board would work for me.If it would just be slower, thats ok. But was wondering if it's to wide would it be hard to turn?? Or what would the down side be of haveing a wide board.
