New Board Suggestions

I'd like some advice on my next board. The one I learned on is completely delammed and was a 2003 Santa Cruz 161. I'm 6'1" and 200 pounds (not muscular, beer belly) and wear size 11 (actually) boots. I've been riding for a few years but only get to go once in a while. I mostly go to Snowshoe, WV since I'm in Va and its the best I can do without flying. I'm not a great rider by any means, but I can handle all the east coast level blacks I've encountered and love to goof off in powder when the stars align and we actually get some. I don't really do park riding but Id like to work on butters and maybe some natural features eventually. I'd also like to get good at carving since I don't see myself going in the park direction.

My brother had a Capita Sierrascope from a few years back and loves it. I'm trying to figure out which lower end (400 dollar range) Capita would suit my current riding skill and style and also be something I can develop the previously listed skills on as I progress. I was thinking maybe the DOA unless its too aggressive? I keep reading about it being for "hard chargers" and I don't think of that as me at all. But I have been riding a 161 old school camber board since I started, so maybe that's to my advantage?

I'm also open to other suggestions in the same price range. Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

Some good sales already kicking in. Evo has a bunch of discounted boards that could work for you. Given your description I think you'll like anything modern with decent stiffness. I just spent a day on the NS Proto and would be a good match for you. Hybrid camber was a lot of fun - I'm also coming from full camber on an old Santa Cruz (but even older).

Get out there and demo some stuff.

if you want capita, look at the outerspace living and outsiders.

I'd go for the DoA though.... get it a tad smaller like 156-158 and it'll be more playful.

don't count yourself out with park. I swore at the beginning of the 16 season not to do any park. been doing beginner boxes and pathetic attempts to ollie rollers and what not today...

Thanks for the responses so far! My number one contender right now is the Capita DOA 158w. My only concern is that it might be too "aggressive" for me. Some reviews make it sound perfect for me and some act like its only for people who want to break speed records on their way to huge jumps. Is it really an all arounder or would I be buying a board meant for a totally different style of riding than I intend to do?

DOA won't be too stiff at all, though not sure why you're going for a true twin if you're not interested in the park or much switch riding.

I think you'd enjoy something like the Ride Berzerker 160W more.

Have you seen this video?

If you're not looking to do parks/jumps then it seems up your alley. He does the test with several other boards also and I think the Burton Custom and Salomon Huck Knife had the overall highest scores, with DOA right behind them.

edit: idk wth is going on with the formatting of this post but hope it helps lol.

Thanks! I hadn't seen that but it sort of clears things up and also reiterates what I was saying about my confusion at the same time. It was number 3 in a test of the best "park boards", but it only got a 6 and 5 for jumps and jibs and a 9 for carving! Sounds like it could work for me though!

I wish Capita (don't know why I'm so drawn to them) would make more "6-7" flex rating boards. It seems like they do a million freestyle park boards, a few stiff "chargers", but not much true all mountain stuff.
