looking for a change
i currently ride a 161.5 GNU riders choice c2btx from like 4 years ago
i weigh like 210 lbs and wear a size 10 burton imperial boot, burton malavitas

i like my board, love the magnetraction especially here on the ice coast
i go out west every year, whistler this year coming up
i dont ride park or switch. sometimes jumps. powder when i can

what i want my board to do.... my board has an asymmetrical sidecut which i like for carving but i would like it to charge downhill better. mine seems a lil unstable at speeds. washy when flat-basing. my board also seems slower than my brothers burton custom.

is there a board in the mervin line that would better suit me. i know i can get a board to compliment my current board but im talking if i were to only use one board. my current board is a good all mountain do everything but as i get older im more limited and want my next board to be better suited for me.

NS definitely make great boards, but they're not cheap, and not for everyone. I loved my Type 2, definitely the most versatile twin I've ridden. But NS boards ride more damp than lively, and I love me some pop and spring edge to edge. Both NS and Mervin are restricted in their broader appeal, NS by their RC tech and Mervin by magnetraction and to a smaller extent their RC as well. Burton I'd argue have always had boards to suit every type of rider, I know I could happily ride a 3 board Burton quiver to cover everything. I couldn't say the same for NS or Mervin, for how I ride.

I'd agree with Greydragon. Rossi, and I'd add Salomon make fantastic boards on the lower end of the price spectrum. Bang for buck they're definitely up there, guess that's a benefit of being some of the biggest ski producers out.

Just because you ride on the East Coast, does not mean you need magnetraction. I personally don't like anything more than a very mellow magnetraction like on my Jones Flagship. I wouldn't personally buy a board with a more pronounced magnetraction, I don't like the way it feels when riding and it just isn't necessary.
