I am an intermediate rider, 5'6 165 lbs. Boot size is between a 7.5 - 8.
To sum this up, I recently purchased a Ride Warpig Small for an upcoming trip to Tahoe. While the board is short, it's also wide at 260. According to what I'm reading, it's not an ideal waist for my boot size of 7.5 - 8.
Was purchasing this board a bad move or should I be OK? Does the ideal sizing apply to these newer style of short fat boards? Finally, any recommendations for bindings in my situation ?
Anymore advice available ? I'm hopeful with the given feedback above (especially the WP rider with the size 6 boot!) but Wiredsports has just put me at a size 7 boot. The board is 26cm waist which sounds like I may have some significant underhang...
I did put a request in to Ride for clarification on the matter. I was hoping not to compromise too much edge to edge responsiveness.
Can't find much more info regarding small boots on these short fat boards.
FWIW, I'm thinking of pairing the board with the Now Pilots.
Probably worth noting that wide, short, deep sidecut pow boards are not new. They are new again . That is actually a good thing as they are really fun and playful in certain situations. For surfy floaty fun in deep snow they can be a blast. I hesitate when I see the park and carve comments. Its not that it cant be done or that a ripping rider can not post an amazing edit but FWIW I would suggest this as a part of a quiver, not a a one board wonder. It is going to be over 4 cm wider than your feet are long. There is no getting around that. On hero days it may be your best friend. On scratch pack days...
I am currently ridding warping. First day on pow. No words to describe. Week later night skiing. Choppy condition. I can feel edge to edge slower compare to flight attendant. But that wider surface makes it so steady on high speed. I don't think I will ride it unless deep pow. That slow edge to edge is there for sure. size 8.5. Hope this helps
