Default Umm touch choice

Well last night my 8 yr old Ride got ganked at Crochet Moutain.. O yea I'm from Mass.. So ive been looking around at some new boards because i really don't want this season to be a wast and not ride at all...

The board was realy short for me. Probably like a 157 ish

I'm 6'3 280 size 13 22yrs old

Ummm oo I'm mostly just a cruiser.. I stay away from parks. would like to get back into powder a little bit in the future

Heres my problem I can't afford some 400 dollar board with 200 dollar bindings.. just can't.. i got bills and i'm a broke emt

I'm looking into getting maybe a used Gnu 11up or a used Skunk Ape maybe a TRS

Well after searching online can't find used ones at all so ill have to go hunting. but whatever..

What do you guys think

I would say that my skill level is a Rusty Intermediate.
Thanks
steve

whatever the case make sure you get a board for your weight, i ride about the same 159cm and im 100 lbs less, same shoe, same height ..... this is a pefect example of why someones height isnt the best measuring tool

Im definitely going to get something around 164-167

OO yea

Great news

The parents are going to help me out big time.. Early birthday gift.. so stoked..

So now its definitely between the Gnu 11up and Skunk Ape or TRS

Im also willing to take more ideas on boards.. Definitely need more to choose from than just 3

Also.. Next season if i get my chops back i'll be hitting up Tahoe for a week

Ride has the Yukon (it's a wide version of the Concept TMS apparently) that's supposed to be a pretty good board for groomers and it'll hold up if you go into the backcountry. It should also be in a 168 size if you want to go that high.
Might be a tad bit expensive, but if you have help and you can find it somewhere a bit cheaper it's worth looking at.
They also have a board called "Slackcountry", but it'd be more for if you wanted to do mainly powder, and it sounds like you'll be doing mainly groomers rather than powder.

Also, I don't know about your weight and what not, but I'm 6' 190lb and I go up to a 164cm on my boards.

Default New board, etc

Check out my website for info on board sizing and width. Use the chart (first link) but be sure to read the second link that explains why some things work and others don't.

Lib Tech Skunk Ape and some Flow NXTs would set you up well...new or used. I'm a big guy too and not sitting in the snow fastening bindings lets me use my energy for riding.

Good luck!

Funny you said that about flows.. i was looking at some today.. built great.. for some reason i thought they would be chincy but not at all. built very well.

Im at a standstill between flows and ride spi's

Also today i looked at a 2011 skunk ape.. sick. $550 though pushing my limit on the price big time.

I'm in the process of looking for a used skunk ape 167...
