Snowboards on eBay?

I'm thinking of getting a new snowboard, and since I'm a cheap bastard, eBay of course came to mind. Has anybody bought a board off eBay? Anything I should look for to make sure I'm not getting ripped off?

I've always had good experiences on eBay; I just wanted to make sure there isn't a huge market for rip off snowboards on eBay like there are for some products. I would never, for example, buy a Lacoste polo on eBay just because almost all of them are fakes.

Also, I've found an 06/07 Sapient Lotus that looks like it may go for around $200. Any opinions on the board?

it depends on what you want to do. List your Weight,Height,Size Boot, and what kind of riding you want to do. THen people can start helping you. =D

i think its actually really hard to make a "fake" snowboard. i got
my board off ebay and i love it. just make sure, you probably know
this already, that the seller has near perfect feedback.

Well yeah, not necessarily "fake" but something along the lines of factory defects. I know there are quite a few factory "seconds" tennis racquets on eBay, for example.

oh yeah there are seconds on boards. but usually its just a little mistake
with the designs on the board. the internal core and base should be exactly
the same as the perfect product. and companies dont usually hand out alot
of seconds. maybe the seller bought one not knowing it was a second, and maybe
he thinks theres something really wrong with it. but usually the only "problem"
with a second board is a small thing on the top sheet of the board.

Sounds good to me. Thanks a lot for the help.

Oh, and as for my stats, hoboinluckytown, I'm 160 pounds, 5'10", boot size 11-12, and an intermediate rider looking for something freeride/leaning towards freestyle.

As far as I know manufacturers only give out 2nds that are only COSMETICALLY flawed, so you should be OK to get a factory 2nd, as long as you dont mind a little flaw. It sohuld perform fine.
Other than that, beware of shipping costs of course, and watch feedback.
