Questions on setting up the binding

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum.
I have a naive question to ask and hope someone can help me out. (sorry if they are dumb questions...:facepalm1:)

Firstly, a quick history of me, I would call myself a beginner to snowboarding.
This is my third season. I am planning on learning how to ride switch.
so far, I can spin my board 360, going downhill, slowly.

My gear includes a 151cm Custom, a malavita binding.
Bend: PurePop Camber, Shape: Direction, my back binding's set to 8 degree-, front set to 13 degree+ and it's shift to the back a little.

Questions, Can I ride switch using this board? and should I set the binding to the middle with duck stance?

Previously I had my binding set according to the reference points on the board. I found it difficult to initiate turns when I get off the chair lift, therefore I pushed it back a little. Does this really make the differences? or was it because I'm still getting used to the new board?

Thanks in advance.

PS: English isn't my native language, apology if it's not grammarly correct.

Hey dude,

Riding a Custom switch shouldn't be a problem. Sure, having it setback a bit might feel a little weird, but that will probably have more to do with your own inexperience than with the directionality of the board. I suggest you ride a few runs with everything set up as you have now. Then, move the bindings forward to the normal position. Then, when you're used to that, go switch.

+13 / -8 IS duck stance. It's just not symmetrical duck stance. :) I don't think it'll be a problem riding it switch like that.

Good luck!

Nah you got it, put whatever where it feels comfortable. You are on the right track where you said you had issues with the reference point and made an adjustment. Same thing with your bindings, just consciously think of your feet and if they want to rotate or move to feel more natural. It's all personal preference man.

According to the Burton website, the Custom is directional shape, twin flex, 10 mm stance setback.
To me that says directional twin.
Many on this forum prefer this type of shape over true twin.
I believe you will be hard pressed to notice any difference between how it rides regular or switch.
