Seeking your tips - Snowboarding Forum

So I just got back from my first snowboarding trip in Arizona, Snow Bowl. So my friends go all the time and they're pretty good and they taught me. I was on black diamonds the whole trip so I picked up on pretty quick. The only problem was I didn't have any good gear and they didnt have extras. So i made due, I rented a Ride 05 season board with generic boots and bindings and it worked out pretty well.

So your time to offer me your expertise. I'm 17 6'1 170 LBS Size 13 foot.
Do I need a wideboard?
I've done some research and I've found numerous boards,boots,and bindings, and like every other sport most of the products offer the same performance and it's usually just what you like and I'm curious if snowboarding is the same?

I need a jacket, pants, and I'm curious to what is wrong with bibs? because my friends say you look dumb. Also what boards,boots,and bindings are good makes?

So if you can tell me, what brands are ideal and what area that would be amazing. Thanks a bunch!

there are differences in boards from model to model and company to company. same with bindings they all have defferent straps, weight, and flex.
some good board companies are: lib tech, neversummer, capita
bindings: union, rome, flux
boots: whateverfits teh best. comfort is most important with boots

i have been riding a Lib Tech TRS w/magnetraction and union forces for 3 years now and it is a great all mountain set up.

I would say Lib Tech,NS, or Rossignol for a board. I like my Rossi Scope. It's a nice board.
Bindings - Rome or Union.
And 32 makes some nice boots. All my 32s have been great. But like crazyface said, it's the comfort that counts. Always try on boots before you buy, so stay away from online stores for boots.
