Graphite wax on Graphite base
One of my boards has a graphite base. Should I be using graphite wax only or can I use regular wax as well? Does it really make a difference?

Hi! You can use a regular wax but graphite wax is really good stuff. If you can use the graphite wax, then use it (especially with our weird Edmonton weather), but if you have a preference for a different wax it shouldn't cause any problems (a good citrus cleaner should remove all the regular wax should the need arise). Perhaps the company that makes your favourite wax has a graphite version...I believe even Kuu does.

Yeah, I saw at Sport Chek Last night that they have a 3 pack of the KUU graphite wax for $20 but I've always used regular wax and didn't feel like I have a problem. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing anything bad to my base.

I've been tempted to buy a board with a black base just to get away with using a graphite wax (you can use it on other coloured bases but it looks like shit). The fact that you actually HAVE a graphite base is even better. Top end stuff which is even better than a sintered base, awesome for racing (if you do, certainly stick with the graphite wax).

I have a Forum F10 161cm and it has a graphite base. It does have "Forum" die-cut in white but that is it. It runs really nice. I especially notice it on the skiout at Sunshine. At the beginning of the skiout where it's flat has hell, before you get to the Jack Rabbit Quad Chair, my buddies always have to strap out and skate to the lift where I can glide all the way even in the spring.
