SL-R, EVO-R, or any other NS RC board: Frequent dry bases?

First off, let me say that the Never Summer Kool-aid has been great for me.

I've never had so much fun with a board until I picked up my SL-R a few weeks ago. Coming off a Rome Anthem(Planktastic), and my damn reliable and fun Capita Photo-Fetish (too bad it was stolen... sigh), I can honestly say this base is the fastest I've owned.

However, I noticed that these bases love and need more waxing than my previous boards. Even after a two hour session, my base is pretty dry towards the edges of the rocker section. I've been waxing all my boards for years, and this was the first base that appeared to dry out relatively quick.

Have any other NS owners experience the same thing? Perhaps my base isn't level in the rocker section, which means a base grind is on order?

Long live the Ice Coast! HAHA:rolleyes:

oh and i am looking onto getting a sl-r but i have never waxed my own board. i useally (sp?) take my board to the shop before the season starts and thats it. i go about 40 times a season to.

bamorgan, waxing your board is easy- just get a plastic paint scraper from your local hardware, and get a cheap iron from kmart.

drip on, scrape off, ride..... its easy board maintenance..

and you should be waxing your board like every 3 days or so.

Get different wax?

Not sure...you shouldnt be wearing out wax on a sintered base in 2 hours unless your riding some gnarly shit, even then...

Ive never experienced that on my SL-R...

No problems at all with my 2010 SL-R. I try to wax every 1-2 days up anyways, but have gone up to 3 on it with no problems.

On Ice coast you need to use a little harder wax. Man Made snow is the worst for your base, it is more harsh on you base. I have seen the opposite happen. My Capita needs wax every 2 trips my NS gets waxed before it shows any need for it. Usually wax every 2 days out on average. Lack of Natural snow this season = needing more frequent waxings done. At least in my area missed all the good snow storms this season.

Hard low temp wax. It doesn't matter what temperature it actually is outside - you're not in the olympics or world cup time trials. Just get the hardest and lowest temp wax you can find.
