Never Summer SL-R, what size?

I'm 5'7", 170ish lbs. Finally settled on the the SL-R after debating between the SL-R and the Evo-R. Now just not sure what size to go. Originally I figured the 155, but now I'm thinking I might want to go shorter. I do mostly freeride, but wouldn't mind starting some jumps and rails once I improve a bit.

At 170 lbs I wouldn't go any shorter then a 155...

If I were you I would get the 158 if your wanting freestyle riding. 161 if your more on the powder end and 155 or mayyyyybe 151 for pure park

Any shorter then a 158 your going to lose a lot of POW float with your weight, even with the binding set back.

I'm 5'7" 155lbs. I ride a NS system 151. I like having it that short because I skated for almost a decade and I'm used to being on a shorter board. I also like how I can really whip a turn hard when I want to. In the really tight trees where you don't have the room to make mistakes, the shorter board is gonna be your savior.

the cons: I feel every damn lump and snowball that I ride over. It's easy to get pitched off your line if your going fast, but I've adjusted. O yea and of course, it's gonna make your legs hurt a hell of a lot more in the powder because you're really gonna have to lean back.

I'd say for you, roll with the 155 since you said you do mostly free ride now, but when you head to the park, it'll do just fine for you. especially the SL-R, I'm getting one in the next couple weeks too :D

Forgot to mention I'm on the ice coast.. powder isn't a huge concern.

Hey Altephor, we have pretty much the same stats in height, weight, riding area, and riding preference.

I was also looking at the never summer line up and wanted to see how you chose between the SL-R and the Evo-R?

To be honest, if I found an Evo-R or an SL-R for a good price I would grab them. I figured that the Evo is really more for park and I don't ride much park, yet. Since I mostly freeride with just a tiny, tiny bit of park, the SL-R seemed the better choice.

I'd go with the 155 0r 158

Well, I'm 5'7 and 135 lbs, and I ride a 151, might give you acomparison.

i'm 175 and i've ridden a 155cm. that is the size I would get it in.

Altephor 02-15-2010 11:16 PM

Just out of curiosity, would you recommend the same size (155) if I were to go with the Evo? Or would you say 153 for the Evo since it's more of a park board.
