Friend bough this board real cheap off Craigslist and we are trying to figure out what it is.

It's a year 2000, Burton Johan.

Search Empty Bottle Works Snowboard Museum

From reading reviews it's a pretty stiff board, so don't expect to see any butters on it. Mostly a freeride board.
