Normal to feel color transitions on base? - Snowboarding Forum

Prob a noob question, but i just waxed my new Sierra Crew and noticed that i can clearly feel the color transitions on the bottom of the board from w here i guess they use different pieces of plastic, etc. Its not huge, but they 're there.

This normal i guess?

the color hasn't changed at all, it looks perfect.

my question is that when i run my hand along the bottom of the board, i can feel where the logo colors (Sierra Crew has big block letters on bottom) change. say from white to green, there is a seem there and i can feel it. is that normal?

oh yea. thats because its a di-cut base. its basically cut and put in from anther PTex base assembled like a puzzle. So yea. its normal.

take it a bit easy with flexing though, i had a di cut solomon and dam right the graphic fell out like a puzzle piece haha but i flexed the crap out of that board

hrmm. Is this a quality way to make a board? I'd think so since its a burton custom and all. What other methods are there? pros/cons?

You can either have a clear PTEX base and ink a design on the inside surface, or use diecut colored ptex. The diecuts have the advantage of having a deeper more vibrant color

I thought you had a Sierra Crew (see below). Where did the Custom come from?

the sierra crew and the custom are teh same board, just different topsheets/bases and names.
