My gear, and a sharpening question.

Hey all, I'm 6'0", 180 lbs, with size 11 boots. I've bought a burton operator 154 wide, large black cartel est bindings, and A pair of Nitro Grifter size 11 boots. I was wondering if this seems good for me... i'm probably a 70% mountain, 30% park rider, and when in the park it's normally rails or jumps, but not pipes, etc.

I've already got a waxing kit, but should I worry about the edges, or just take it to a shop once a year and get them sharpened?

Thanks.

wax it yourself, just go to shop whenever you feel that your edges are not sharp anymore or have burs

I would sharpen more than once a year. I usually debur my edges after each day or whenever they feel like they might need it. Just remember too much sharpening is bad, as you will find you have none left before long. I like to sharpen just enough to remove the burs and make it smooth.

I think you would be fine with the 154 wide, but at 6ft, 180, you might see that you like the edge hold and dampening of a longer board if you are 70% mountain and only 30% park. Your personal preference might be a different.

I personally ride a mid-wide Salomon Burner 163 with sz 11 Salomon Fusion F22 boots and have risers under my Flux Super Titans. I am 6'2" and 180lb. I am right at the high end of the suggested weight for my board.
