silly: help: board stance width?

guys, i am sorry for this stupid question, but when I read boards specs, what is the Stance Width? the MAXIMUM distance between the holes where bindings go, measured at the farthest holes? or the Minimum, measured at the innermost center holes? and what is the REFERENCE stance?

thanks in advance

stance width will be centre of one binding to the other, reference stance is what the manufacturer thinks is the most suitable stance for a person fit for that board.

but what does that mean on a board spec with no rider/bindings on it? where this hypothetical bindings are positioned?

yep, there are only a limited number of places you can mount the bindings. if you put them in the holes closest to the center of the board you will have the min stance width, put them on the furthest holes and you'll get the max

ok my english is poorer than I thought
let's try with a sketch of those holes where bindings go

7 6 5 4 3 2 1 ----- 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
7 6 5 4 3 2 1 ----- 1 2 3 4 5 6 7

When I read on K2 website that the Podium has a STANCE WIDTH of 21, what does that refer to?
thanks

it's probably my shitty explaining.. and the fact that k2 doesn't seem to put stance range on their site
if 21 is reference range, the bindings will be mounted on 2 and 4 in ur diagram, so the center of the binding will be #3, so 3 to 3 will be 21inches. hope that explains it.

but since the stance width depends on shin length (I followed this video advice YouTube - How to Mount Snowboard Bindings: SnowProfessor and put the bindings in a way that your hips fit between the bindings)
how there could be a "Stance recommendation"?

Stance width is purely preference and what you're comfortable with. For a starting point, use the reference stance and go wider/narrower from there.

Stance width sizes on board specs are talking about the reference holes which are the middle set of holes on the board.

You're reading into the specs too much. Don't worry, you can go wider than the reference stance width.

FWIW I've only seen reference width on directional boards. None of my twin tip boards have them.

My pow board RW is 22.5"

i am mounting Union data L-XL on K2 podium 159
i used around 27-28 as stance width
now I am worried about my Northwave decade SL fitting in the bindings, and tweaking the latter...
