Im looking at buying my first board (intermediate level board in the 200 dollar range). I've seen several clearance sales with good prices. In general, do the clearance items get snatched up right away or will I be able to find something online in a month or two with a better discount? I'm not intersted in having the latest model, I'd prefer to buy a discount board from last year for better value.

It really depends on whether or not you have zeroed in on exactly what you want to buy and in what size. If you're very particular and want something specific, snatch it up now. Sales are very good at this time of year, and popular models/sizes are quite likely sold out a lot of places already. If you don't particularly care and are willing to go with best available, then wait. I don't think you'll find too much better in terms of pricing the longer you wait. 50% off in some places is probably as good as it will get for a board; it's not like they aren't still sellable or rideable next year.

I'd probably snatch up a board now if it's 30-50% off...
If you wait too long, sizes available start to get a bit sketchy. As the person above said, it's probably not going to really get any better.
