Just bought a brand new board from Geartrade/Backcountry but it's damaged? How bad?

Hello, I bought a new board on geartrade which was advertised as excellent/never been used with a flawless base. I open it up and I do see the factory stickers in tact, but I see some of the graphics missing. Is it just the graphics got scraped off (which seems unlikely since the graphics is usually under a few layers of ptex right) OR was this board damaged or something and had base welding/ptex/epoxy repair?

Wow...

That's hardly a flawless base. In fact, that thing looks pretty messed up. I'd be getting on the phone with someone about that crap.

So what do you guys think it is? Was it damaged and repaired or cosmetic defect or what? The black stuff all around the base btw are part of the design. It's just that diamond shaped thing missing the graphics I'm worried about.

It doesn't matter what the problem is, the fact of the matter is that you've got a damaged board. Call up the place you bought it from!

If it's just cosmetic, I'm going to bargain for a lower price. If it's a physical issue, I'm going to return it completely. The board was dirt cheap so if it's just cosmetic, it's not that big a deal to me. Anyone? I got 48 more hours to decide.

That thing is probably going to slow you down from the friction.

If it was top sheet damage, then it would be no problem considering it was dirt cheap. But how cheap is that? Note that many stores have 40% off everything now..

Considering it's your base I wouldn't mess around.

Return it.

As some have mentioned, return it. It's your base, so even if you could get a bit of money back, there's no telling what it would do to your riding.

I have a feeling that the damage was either a manufacturing defect, or similar, and was never intended to be sold. Sometimes boards w/printing defects end up on ebay at a fraction of MSRP. That's pretty interesting. I'm pretty sure you're gonna have a hard time fighting it since it was sold to you AS-IS, but you might be able to contact Nitro and simply inquire about warranty since it appears to be a factory defect.
