Default Shaun White Asym

Hey all,
First off, I'm on the east coast, so I usually just snowboard in a hoodie, or some layered sweaters when it gets chilly.
However, it's been freezing as of lately, so I decided to get a jacket, which ended being the Burton Asym.. I really liked the design and fit.

Theres a problem though, I paid about 200 bucks for a jacket that doesn't really SEEM that its gonna keep me warm? Am I supposed to to layer under these jackets, or are they just designed to be lightweight, and keep me warm?

Whats your take?

You paid too much for a jacket, but other than that it is 10k, 10k (waterproofing and breathable) so it should be a warm, dry jacket to wear even on the snowiest of days. And yes, I would layer. I dont go out and buy that fancy base layer, and never get cold even on the coldest days here in Colorado. I use a long johns long sleeve shirt, long sleeve shirt, hoody, and then my jacket. Kept me warm the other day at Beaver creek when it was neg 4 and a 10 mph wind, and my coat isnt rated as high as the one you bought.

That jacket is just a shell. You will need to layer to gain insulation. I would highly recommend something NOT made out of cotton as cotton absorbs moisture.

If it is warmer weather, you will just need to have some sort of a base layer under it. If its cold, I would recommend rocking a fleece pull over or jacket under it.

The Asym jacket is mostly designed to keep you protected from wind and moisture and is meant to be combined with some sort of layering.
