Default New Boards vs. Older boards

I ride an Atomic Hatchet with Burton Custom bindings, and have had this board for about 5 years. Now I love this board, and it's got scratches to hell to prove it, but I'm really curious how the newer boards with the newer technology handle compared to something that is 5 years old. The hatchet is kind of an all around board with an emphasis on park terrain, though I really hardly ever ride park. Powder and trees are my favorite, and I tend to have more fun screwing around and doing tricks on natural stuff,(it hurts quite a bit less). The main question I want to ask though is if I get a new board,($300-400 range) will I notice a big difference, and will it be easier for tricks and park terrain. If not I'm pretty happy with the Hatchet until it snaps. Thanks!

i'm sure there will be a bit of a difference, but if you're enjoying your ride, i'd say ride it until it snaps. in short, don't try to fix problems you don't have!

Haha, riding it until it snaps isn't a bad idea, but there has been some pretty interesting changes in snowboard tech in the past 5 years. Personally, I'd suggest picking up a new board and using your old one as a backup.

Obviously, you can still have fun with your old one. It just might be interesting to check out new stuff.
