Too wide - Snowboarding Forum

Picked up a nearly new Arbor Roundhouse 163 for 99 bucks. I dont need a wide as I have a size 10 boot. Will I lose alot of performance going wide when not needed? I ride a Forum Lander 161 and love it.

In my experience, yes. You would lose toeside edge control (slower edge to edge, harder to turn) because your toes are too far away from the edge to exert direct force.

I find that boards that are too wide feel a LOT stiffer than they actually are, so I tend to ride softer boards in order to compensate for a wider waist (I have tiny feet, so all boards are too wide for me).

You could ride the Roundhouse of course, it would just fee more like a door than a snowboard. Beautiful deck though.

Unless that thing is like 28 at the center you'll be fine. I've been rocking 10's on regulars, mids, and wides for years you'll be fine you'll just have a bit more surface area.

26.8 waist. The Element wich was considering is 25.4. The Never Summer Premier wich I was looking at as well is25.6. I originally bought the Roundhouse to resell. 99.00 was just too good to pass up. I started thinking why buy one of the others at a much higher price. The Roundhouse is what Im looking for, just a half inch wider. More input and opinions would be great. Keeep it coming.

Even at $99, the Roundhouse is a beautiful piece of wall art. That said, I'd consider buying it... But that's just the crazy person in me that thinks that I really need a fourth stick.

Quickly mail it to me and I will send you my BSOD. The roundhouse is a bad ass board and i really miss mine. I had 167 that was way too big for me and was a bitch to turn but when it did I could feel it pop out of turns. You will dig that board if you are not a light weight. Where can I get a 99 dollar arbor?

bought at a REI garage sale. Im not light weight. 240pds. feet are only a 10. will probally keep it and try it.

at 240 and size 10 you'll be just fine. arbor makes amazing looking boards and they ride better then they look!!! that board would feel big and probably too stiff if you were 140lbs. enjoy you got an awesome board and an incredible deal!

Totally agreed here. For a big guy, the wide will be no problem at all. You have plenty of weight to handle the surface area of that stick. The actual size of your feet will be no big deal. $99 for this board is a major score -- just gloat.
