I have a Stairmaster, and I'd recommend it so long as you aren't looking for a board to hit some big kickers with, because it's much too soft for bigger jumps, however I find it perfect for jibbing.

I haven't personally tested the Kink, but I only hear good things about it. I have tested a lot of Ride boards though, and all were excellent quality. Even the entry level Ride Control lasted 2 seasons of abuse from learning, 3 years of shelf life without any care like wax, and is currently being used again by my bro-in law without a single problem.

I'm going to give you a shameless plug because you'll get hooked up with free Skullcandy Riot earbuds if you get the 2011 Kink through snowboards.net.

We also have the 2010 Kink without the perks

No, they definitely won't be cheaper. No retailer is allowed to discount Ride's (and every other major brand for that matter) 2011 products until well after X-Mas. If a retailer does, they are pulling a Sierra

I have the 2010 Ride Kink. I bought for the same reasons you want one, but mainly I got it to learn how to butter easier. I haven't been dissapointed with it yet. I haven't taken it off big jumps, since I'm only hitting small to medium jumps for now. But I would say that my Black Death felt a little more solid on the landings. But it wasn't that major of a difference to where it would make me panic.

But one thing with the 2010 Kink vs the 2011 Kink, is that the 2010 Kink had regular camber on it. I think the 2011 has some type of reverse camber on it. I could be wrong, but that's what I remember reading somewhere. So it's kinda hard to compare the two years.
