Default Ride Machete

Okay, so here something new... not at all.

I'm looking at buying a new board. I just started last year and bought an old board that is too narrow for my feet.

Me: 6'3" tall, 195 lbs, size 13 boots.
I won't be doing much park riding, mainly groomers and small jumps. No blacks or anything.

At first I wanted the Bataleon Goliath because the TBT looked pretty cool, but the more looking into I did I realized it might not be the best board for me. Still not completely sure.

So now I have the choice to buy a 2010 Ride Machete 161 wide or a 164 Wide.

My current board is 163 cm and that doesn't feel too long or anything.

So my question is, what do you think? Should I go a cm longer than my current board (164W) or should I go a little shorter (161W)? I need a wide board and this one seems to be pretty awesome.

Any advice would be so greatly appreciated.

Any advice?

I don't know if the 160 would be too short or the 164 would be to long. Will it matter much?

Would I be wasting my money buying such an expensive board? Should I look at the Flow Merc? I can get an almost new ParkStar 163 Wide for pretty decent price.

So MANY OPTIONS!! AHHH!!!

Thanks! I guess I just need to hear an opinion from someone other than my GF who would rather I spend my money on other things.

161W it is.

I think a Bataleon Goliath 161 would be perfect for what you're describing, and your size.

Depends on what you want to do with it...

Park? 157w

All-mountain/freestyle? 161w

Powder sniffing? 164w

By the way, the Ride Machete is actually considered a mid-point priced board.

I definitely won't be hitting any rails or doing much other than passing the park, but I will be using it all over the mountain so I have almost positively decided to go with the Machete 161 W.

So, by mid priced, does that mean it's not as expensive as I am making it out to be, or that I shouldn't be looking at a mid priced board?

Thanks to everyone who had constructive advice. I sincerely appreciate it. I'll post pics of the set up when it's ready!

Oh, the Goliath looks sweet, but has proven to be one of the most elusive boards in Japan. I located one in Tokyo (quite far from me) with no way to contact them except by phone and my spoken Japanese is shit. If I ever have the chance I really REALLY wanna try TBT.

I started on a 166 and I am only 6'1" I would buy a board you can grow into. Sure you are going to fall a lot more but once you get it dialed in you will not regret having a more advanced board. If you like speed I would go bigger, I ride a billygoat and I think it is a fantastic freeride/all mt board not to mention very few people can keep up with it haha. May want to check out NS legacy, Lib tech Skunk Apes, GNU riders choice or for a better price point the carbon credit.
