So I own a bunch of old gear that I grew out of, and Nobody is buying it (tried craigslist, ebay, local flyers) and I dont really need anything new right now. I've got a nice board set up already, gear, etc.
Anyway, so I went down to the local gear swap and they have a 1987 Sims Switchblade there with some regular, semi-modern bindings installed on it. the store said they would trade it for some of my gear (not even all of it) any time. I ride mainly steeper terrain, some trees, backcountry (hike in, board out) and all that fun stuff. not really into parks or anything but thought this board would be super fun anyway. Just something different to ride. I would like some opinions though, because I've never ridden a board like this, nor do i know what its like to ride. has anyone ever ridden one? any reasons i shouldn't or should get it? Whats it like to ride one? Is there anything else I should do with my gear? Etc Etc? picture (not of this exact one, but same model)

outdated could be fun... the snow up here in flagstaff may suck this year so i was trying to find a way to make things a little more interesting.
just have no idea how interesting riding this would make it. and yeah, it has metal edges

The only value in an old board like that is as wall art. That board in particular probably isn't worth much. I've been checking ebay for something to hang on my wall at work. People tend to go more for natural wood and neutral colors for vintage boards. Anything bright neon either goes really cheap, or the seller sets an unrealistic starting bid and it doesn't sell.
As far as riding it goes, it would probably be like digging out an old Atari or Nintendo (depending how old you are). My office got an Atari 2600 a few months ago and it was really fun for about 15 minutes. But after a game or two of Tank, it kinda sucked. |

![]() Point taken though. Just thought I'd point it out in case it did turn out to be an issue. Still wouldn't buy it unless you want wall art. |
