These questions have been asked probably a million times, I apologize in advance. I've been out of the loop for a while and want to try some new technology (RC) this season.
Previously I rode a 156 Jamie Lynn circa 2001 or something like that (flowery graphics). I'm comfortable riding anywhere and would say I'm intermediate/advanced. I'll never do rails, likely spend very little time in the park. Trees, natural features, solid fast riding. Though I don't do rodeo flips or anything, I do like going off booters, and would like to do so with confidence. I'm about 5'7", 150-55lbs, size 7.5 Burton Shaun White boots. Pacific Northwest locales. I'm trying to decide between a SL 151, 153, 155 or 155 Heritage. I think the waist width is either 24.3-4 (SL) and 25.2 (Heritage). Now my question concerns board sizing (waist) and foot size. Will my shoe size affect the "vario sidecut", handling of the board and should this be a determining factor in picking a board? Also, having relatively short legs, and a "normal" think 20-21" stance, would this impact on the RC/vario grip performance? Or am I overanalyzing? I don't think I'd have a problem with the length (couple of cms) and all else being equal would want a longer board, because in truth, I'd likely be freeriding most of the time, dreaming of powder and not doing the new school thing. I'm thinking 153, happy medium, but the 2011 Heritage is just so light (never ridden) and pretty and the smaller SLs are pretty narrow. On the other hand, with my lighter body weight, maybe a less stiff board may not be a bad idea. Though this year, the flex between models isn't suppose to be that much different (SL: 5 vs Hertitage: 5.5). Thanks. Pretty big investment. Any help, opinions would be greatly appreciated. |

I'd say 153 SL because it has the length to support your weight but is a thin waist and will do exactly what you want.
I think the 155 SL or Heritage would be too wide with only 7.5 boots. The 24.3cm fits my 9.5's perfectly with just a bit of overhang.
