so my board has a black base, and sometimes after waxing my board and then riding a few days, my base near the edges sometimes will be a noticeably lighter (grayer) then the rest of my base. I assume this means that the board needs more wax in that particular area, but i figure i would ask to see if i could get any definate answers.

That is exactly it. The wax will wear out quicker on the edges simply because they are used more than other areas of the base.

okay thats what i figured. thanks for the fast reply. I have noticed that this seems to happen really fast, sometimes even after only one trip to the hill.

Your wax might be shit, your waxing method might also be shit.

Read up on the sticky thread about waxing and you should get all you need out of those.

You want your base to get a little warm when you're waxing so that the pores of the base open up and let the wax seep in.

I've had three full days of riding on my Capita and have yet to see a sign of wear on the base. I waxed that puppy three times before I even used it so I'd build a solid wax base.

You could also wax the sides of your base with cold wax while you leave the center with all temp wax. But that's just trouble for nothing IMO.

Yeah, I had the same thing happen to my board, all I had to do was give a little extra TLC to the edges when waxing (I waxed the edges a couple more times then the rest of the board) and I haven't had any troubles since.
