Board / Boot Size Compatibility

Hello everyone. I'm a relatively new snowboarder from Kalamazoo, MI. I have a question about snowboard and boot size.

The only other snowboard I've ever owned was a Ride Fleetwood 155 from ages ago with Burton boots size 13.

I did my research and I decided that a GNU Carbon Credit BTX 2011 would be a good fit within my price range and ability. I ordered the 159. Unfortunately, they ran out of stock, so I got a 153 instead.

I measured my foot and the length is 10.5 in, 27 cm. That puts me at a .27. My concern is that my foot will be too large for the smaller board and drag. Is this a likely issue?

Thanks for any advice.

The issue is that even though the previous boot size was 13, everything I read here suggests that 27 cm (10.5 in) is actually more like...a size 9. I'm just confused by all the sizes. So what you are saying is that I would be trying to fit a 27 cm foot on a 24.7 cm board? I don't suppose the Carbon Credits are just naturally wide, are they?

@post before: seller offered to send a 153 for me to try instead. I weigh about 135.

Well are you wearing an american size 13? You sure you are measuring your foot properly?
Gnu has a normal and wide version for the carbon credit. if your foot is actually 27cm, that is a size 9, and you will be fine... as long as you boots are actually a size 9. You want to have a bit of overhang on your board, since your foot is elevated, you just dont want so much so that your feet drag when you carve.

I'm really sorry for being retarded about all this, but I'm trying to put together everything I have read here. Honestly, the only thing I know for absolute certainty is that if I measure my foot with sock from back to toe, it measures out at 10.5 inches. That is, rounded up, 27 centimeters. So forgetting previous boot sizes and any other bullshit, on math alone, is a 27 cm foot likely to fit on a 153 board?

(I wear a size 12 work boot.)

At 135 lbs., the 159 was probably too big for you, unless you are planning to do nothing but powder surfing. You're near the very bottom of the weight range. The 153 is actually a much better size. In terms of width, you need to figure out what your real boot size is, but if it's actually around a 9, you should be fine on most regular-width boards. Remember that stance width and binding angles come into play here. And a little overhang on each side is normal, and necessary.

@27 cm you are supposed to be wearing size 10 according to this chart.

Did someone fit you? Are you wearing women's boot? Are your feet wide? Did you measure your feet bare foot? Something is not right.

I think its best if we just forget that bit about an earlier pair of boots. They are five years old, and I can't even confirm that I read the size right. Again, what I know for certain is that my foot with sock on is 27 cm long and 10 cm wide. I will use that chart to size myself. It sounds like I just misinterpreted the size of the boot I used to wear (it was too big for me anyway.)

Sorry for making this so difficult. I'm not trying to. Thanks for all the quick and helpful responses.

For starters measure your foot without socks. If your measurement of 27cm is correct, that's a Men's US shoe size of 9 maybe 8.5 w/o the socks.

How tall are you? It'll give us an idea if you're measuring your foot wrong. (if you're 5feet tall, I highly doubt you have size 12 or 13 boots).

It sounds like you don't need a wide board and the 153 should fit fine.

For boots, it's best to go try a bunch on. But if you have to buy online measure your foot without socks. Press your foot against the wall and mark where your toes extend to. Now measure that distance. Also, 10cm width, seems pretty wide if the length is 27. If you are indeed 10cm, you'll probably need a boot that is wider. 32 Lashed and Nike Kaijus I know are wider boots.

Don't size up your boots to get more width. Look for a boot that is wider. Good luck.
