Snowboard Racing Stance - Snowboarding Forum

I'm part of my schools snowboard team, which downhill races. I have a fairly short board, and have been riding duck stance ever since. I heard that racing with both bindings positive is preferred for racing. We have a training session on thursday, but I just want to know which stance I should start to use once I start to race.

Assuming that you'll be using some kind of alpine/racing board, positive angles on both bindings is the norm there. These boards are directional so a duck stance isn't going to help you win any races considering you're not riding switch at any point (at least you shouldn't be and isn't really possible on racing/alpine boards). I'd suggest going with positive angles on both and adjust from there, more/less positive and tinker till you feel comfortable and can carve wicked sharp turns and maintain stability and speed on tight technical courses.

Actually, I have a small free ride board, 151, twin tip. I guess I should look for my older 154 crap board and adjust my stance.

I'm guessing you would have a coach. You might want to talk to her/him about this Q, not people on this board who have no clue what skill level or league you might be in.
