Buying my first board... - Snowboarding Forum

Hey yall. I am buying my first snow board. Are there any brands yall can steer me toward? I am still a beginner so I don't need the best. Also sizing baffles me. I am a wakeboarder turned snowboarder so its still new to me.

I am 6'4" weigh 300 lbs and wear a size 14 shoe. Maybe someone can help me find some bargain deals and help me with sizing.

You will need a big stiff wide board. Have a look at Nitro Magnum and Ride Yukon, they both come in 168.

I went online to a board size calculator and they said a 163 is something I would need. I don't understand the width of boards...why measure the length in cm and the width in mm? Makes no sense.

These board size calculators are not very good.

What have you been riding up to now? How was that?

I couldn't tell you what size board I rode. I have just rented them and they don't tell you what size you're riding. But I wanna buy my own versus just renting them. I can drive 45 mins north to go snowboarding here in Vegas versus driving 4 hrs east from when I was living in Nashville TN
