need advice...on boots

Hey there...need some advice on board size and boots.

Recently purchased a 2008 160cm Burton Custom X with FLOW NXT FX Bindings. I am 5'8" and weigh a little over 70kgs. I decided to go with a larger board due to my weight and because I wanted a nice smooth ride; But, I'm beginning to think I made a mistake and should have gone with a smaller board, especially in this model as the Custom X is already a stiff board to begin with.

Anyway, I'm finding I need to exert a lot of leg power to get this thing from heel carve to toe side. *(in part due to the fact I'm using #&*@ boots but also the board perhaps may be a bit to long for me?)

Should I keep this thing or move down to a 156?

keeping the board or not...I'm now in the market for a good set of boots suited for the FLOW NXT FX bindings and all round free riding. (stiff, light, good heel grip and highly responsive)

I am currently considering the following:
Burton ION
Burton Direct X
Solomon Malamute

Which is the better boot for 80% free riding and 20% free style?
Any other boots out there worth looking into?

any advice will be appreciated. Just want to make the most of whats left of the season.
