Snowboard size question???

I'm new to boarding cause I've skied all my life. I was looking to buy a board, but the only size left in the one I want is 154 and 163W. I am 165 lbs and 5'11". I wear a size 10 boot. I was wondering if 154 is too small for me. Also, is reverse camber easier to ride or no? I've only snowboarded for a few hours before, but I started to pick up on it pretty quick. Thanks for the help!

can you list the boards? each board manufacturer lists the specs for EACH of their boards. One board, a 154 might be ok for you while another, no way.

An all depends answer is the best I can give you sorry.

Size 10's on a smaller board may not work out if you get into some heavy carving, while skidded turns and dynamic skidded turns, it should be ok...but again, what are the specs? Waist width of the boards.

- Freeride Performance
- Directional Shape
- Reverse Camber!
- Power Cap Construction
- Bi Axial Stitched Fiberglass
- Reinforced Poplar Core
- 12 Pack Shotgun SS Inserts
- Full Wrap Rockwell 48 Edges
- Laser Guided Knife Cut UHMW Base
- UV Protective Gloss Coating

I don't really know what half this crap means...again, im new. but its a lamar viper.

Also depends on what style of riding you may be in to. there are quite a few variables as some have mentioned earlier.

U can usually get away with a slightly shorter board if it is rockered. What is the specs of the board(s)? waist width etc? your size 10 boot should be ok.

If all you wanna do is carve the mountain I would personally be looking towards a longer, cambered board.

Give us some more details about your desired/anticipated riding style, board specs etc

I've got similar problem, I'm 175 cm and 65kg( around 145 lbs i think ). I'm about to buy stepchild headless horseman , but I'm not quite sure which size would be better for me, 151 or 154? I will mainly use it as all mountain and freeride, but i want to start learning some FS basics as well.

I would prob start off just carving but after a while i would like to hit the park. is reverse camber harder to control for a beginner? and im actually buying the boots, bindings, and board as a package. i dont know if that makes a difference. i cant find those other measurements.

I ...don't know about that brand...sorry. Those stats that are posted are pretty generic stats, might want to do some more research at retailers online and see what their selling points are in comparison. That brand , Lamar, isn't highly regarded. Not that I believe in all the hype. That brand is most likely something you would see in a store that sells shirts, hats, boxes, watches and snowboards.

I ride a 153 k2 podium and I am 5'5" so I am thinking you are going to want to go longer, say 158, 159.

As for the brand, it doesn't really matter since you are new to the sport. If you get a great deal, ride the heck out of it for a year or two, then upgrade to a nicer board that fits your riding style more.

Also, size 10 boots will be fine on any standard size board. I also wear a 10 and I have no problems with toe or heel drag. The footprint on the Burton boots I have is larger than the boots I had before. But, I recentered the boots/bindings over the board and it is fine.
