GNU Riders Choice BTX compared to Lib Tech TRS BTX - Snowboarding Forum

Currently rocking a Lib TRS BTX 159 and i LOVE it. it does everything i want it to do i just wish was a little bigger. If i could find this exact board in a 162-164 (without breaking the bank on this years brand new $600 model) i would be extremely happy but no dice.

so i found a GNU Riders Choice btx 162 (wide) and i wonder how its going to compare to the TRS in general but specifically stiffness. Its listed as a "medium stiff" board that can handle anything. transworld called it "the Swiss Army knife of snowboards". i'm looking at it for an all mountain, freeride, pow board for when i go out west and i need to make sure its not going to be a noodle.

first off if you are looking at wide boards the skunk ape from lib heres on for a little of retail
is the wide version of the trs. As for the carbon credit, its a similar board with a "budget" construction, meaning they use a cheaper fiberglass and reinforce with carbon stringers. The trs is slightly stiffer but since you are going up in length i'd guess they would be pretty close in flex.

i dont need a wide board. i wear an 11 boot and have never used a wide board. the board i found for cheap just happens to be a wide and i figured it sure couldnt hurt for the deep stuff.

also, i need info on the Riders Choice not the carbon credit.

ok i just recently bought a gnu riders choice havent had any problems with it yet except that i chipped the top sheet a little but thats normal so anyways the pros for it are that it is a AMAZING all mountain board it is good on rails jumps, riding, jibbing, and anything else you want to do. the difference between it and the TRS is that it has a sintered base and is a little more park orientated. the sintered base is amazing fast and very tough. i would give it a 10/10 theres nothing i dont like about it. i rode my friends burton custom and the riders choice is milestones ahead of it

btw its not a noodle at all its not extremely stiff but not soft i would give it a maybe 6/10 flex? very sturdy at high speeds

if you want a riders choice go to SEIsports.com and look up the riders choice it is on sale for 489.99, they dont have a warranty so i had dogfunk.com price check it and they have a year warranty. so if you dont like it you can return it

Riders Choice is pretty much a TRS with a sintered base.

If you are thinking of getting a riders choice, you should get this years model. It is a C2Btx. Or a banana camber hybrid. It rides better at high speeds and lands jumps better. I have one and I love it. It is semi soft but still firm enough for steeps and pow.

My 2 cents.
