Dakine edge tool question (maybe stupid)

I'm getting ready to sharpen my edges for the first time. Just a few passes with the tool, not a full tune. My tool, the basic Dakine side edge tool, has a bevel of 90 degrees on one side and 88 degrees on the other. My question is, does this refer to the side that's down or the side that's up? In other words, if I want to use the 90 degree bevel, should I be reading the "90" on the side of the tool, or should it be against the board?

the "90" should be facing down into the board so while tuning for "90" you'll be seeing the "88" side facing you with the "90" side facing the board.
