Lib Tech Measurement Favor

Can someone take a Lib Tech and compare the length to another brand of the same length? Example, Lib Tech TRS 148 standing next to Burton Custom V 148. I've read conflicting statements saying Lib Tech measures their boards long so it sounds like it would actually be shorter in height.

Thanks

my lib 161 is 62 3/4 inches

like I'd have a Burton in my house...

Board length is irrelevant. I think what you are looking for is effective edge. Both Lib and Burton provide those numbers on their spec sheets.

Why do you list the length of the board you are trying to sell if its irrelevant?

:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::cheeky4:

I have heard something about measuring along the curvature of lib techs and GNUs and that other boards are measured in a flat straight line. So mervin mfg boards are stated longer than what they actually are.

Whether this is true or not.... i'm not sure. I'm not buying any other brands so i guess i'll never know

I have a TRS 154 and a Bataleon 151. The Bataleon is extremely close to the same length as the Lib Tech, so in that case I'd say that Lib measures short.

The boards in my house, granted 2 are really old :) :

Measuring in a straight line tip to tail:
-1999 Ride Yukon 164,--------measures 2.7cm less
-1999 K2 Luna 157,-----------measures 2.4cm less
-2011 Lib Tech T.Rice 161.5,-measures 1.2cm less

Measuring them along the base, following the curves of the tip and tail:
-1999 Ride Yukon 164,--------measures 0.5cm less
-1999 K2 Luna 157,-----------measures 1.0cm less
-2011 Lib Tech T.Rice 161.5,-measures 0.2cm less

They all measure less than advertised, the Lib Tech being the closest to what's advertised.

Thanks for the replies. I've pulled the trigger and ordered a TRS 148.

But I don't think the shop actually has it in stock and their online inventory isn't accurate, but we'll wait and see :dunno:

You having fun trying to be a complete tool in every single one of your posts?

Read the OP's concern then look at my reply to him. When you are comparing two boards purely lengthwise, then it is irrelevant because a 148 in one board might have a different effective edge than a 148 in another board. Even when it's within the same brand.

You just keep digging yourself a deeper hole with every post Silver Surfer. How about you start positively contributing to something around here now?

By the way, people that are looking for a particular board need to know the length especially if they want to know the effective edge.

SilverDoucheSurfer is a douche.

I wonder if ( the MERVIN Boards) measure up differently because they have a blunt nose and tail. My K2 has round tip/tail, my park pickle has a very square tip/ tail. However, as stated before, actual length doesnt matter much, and I suspect they still measure it because its an easy way to tell boards apart. Who is going to try to measure the effective edge every time the eye up a board?
