Default Base splintering on brand new board?

I finally unwrapped my new board yesterday and I went to setup my bindings.

I was looking at the base of the board and noticed some minor splintering in a couple of spots.

There are tiny "gashes" and on these "gashes", I can see small wood chips flaking off.

It's kind of hard to see from the pics, so bear with me.

I realize I may be being a bit nit-picky but, I'm still brand new to the whole snowboard world and was wondering if this is normal for a brand new "just opened" board.

It's a K2 raygun if that makes any difference.

Thx in advance all.

Congratulations you took a photo of a base that has a little excess roll on wax. Go ride it.

I'd be a bit scared of you flying a kite that seems to intricate of a mechanical device.

That's okay, I'll take it off his hands. I don't want to see anyone get hurt.

Just ride it. You'll end up scratching up the base more riding it than what you've photoed.
