is my stance set too far back? - Snowboarding Forum

I just got an Arbor element, looking to focus on carving/charging/freeriding. The board is naturally setback but I decided to slide my bindings back a little farther towards the tail. Just wanted some opinions on if this looks normal/appropriate for the riding I want to do.

If it feels okay it's probably fine, but since it's set back alread you probably don't need to go even further unless you think it feels better for you. That's probably a good setup for deep powder though.

I ride an A-Frame..wich is set back 2cm and rides pretty surfy. I set it back even more only on really deep powder, to have more float...Do the same thing on firm snow/hardpack and your tail will wash out every turn. For carving I suggerst you try the standard settings, and leave some tail to push you out of the turns.
ALso steeper positive angles will help your carving (I see yours are pretty shallow in the pic) (like +15 / + 12) I ride 21-18 for carving 15-9 for pow

I have the same board, 158cm. Standard width is fine for normal conditions. In a foot of wet pow, I had to set back all the way, and it worked beautifully. So depending on your conditions I'd recommend similar. I charge pretty hard and never really wished on groomers I had more of a setback.

I've never rode with both feet positive before, is this how most people ride when carving? My normal stance is +12, -3. I have it set right now at +12, 0. Do you think going positive with the back foot will help?

Do I have enough tail?

Ride it a couple times down the hill, change it to more center and you be the judge.

It's all preference. I change my stance for powder days. I use a sharpie to mark where my bindings are for reference.

If you look at carving videos (hard boots) they ride like + 35 + 25...try both positive....see if you like it. I do.
I use different angles for diferent terrain.
