161.5 or 164 T.Rice?

I'm currently riding a 157 T.Rice and there's an opportunity to get a longer version from this year. Will the 161.5 or 164 be better? I'm an intermediate rider, 5'8", 160 lbs. This would be a complement to the 157 and not a replacement.

161.5 Pros: weighs less
164 Pros: floats better

What's your take?

Is this board going to be free? I really don't understand why you would want two of the same boards in different sizes... actually, I can see why. The 161.5 Rice is pretty much a different board without the blunted tips and wider waist.

I say go for 161.5. Do you find the 157 to be stiff? Keep that in mind before you consider the 164 because it's going to be even stiffer.

You didn't mention what type of riding you do. Leo makes a good point: when you go from 157 to 161, you change from the "blunt" shape to the "pointy." I ride the pointy version (161 and i'm 5'10" 180 lbs.) and haven't ridden the blunt shape so can't directly compare. i can't imagine you need to go bigger than 161.

I doubt the difference is extreme, but the blunt reportedly will have more of freestyle/park feel (though still not real soft) while the pointy is intended to be the powder/freeride version of this all-mt. board.

Thanks for all the input guys. Normally I wouldn't buy the same board in a different length but my local shop had a special makeup for its 20th Anniversary and the only two left were 161.5 and 164.5.

I went with the 161.5 and will post pics later.

hmmm! I can't see pic at office, but took a peak on my iPhone! Woohaa!! What is that??!! Nice grab.

Anyway, no woriies about teh 164.5 size, it wil probably be too much board at your specs. I'm 6'2 190 11.5 and it's a perfect fit. But even at that I was considering a 161 as more playful stick. So, you're good.

On teh other hand, I do want to clarify that there is no real difference in construction between the boards except for the blunt/pointy tip/tail. Core and all are the same. For me it's like riding a 157 of the same board, it will feel very different. Shorter, more manuverable and probably softer (due to my weight). But in essence, they are the same board.

Cheers...
