Default Skata banana wide or no??

Ok guys, I'm torn right now. I found a wicked deal on a 2011 skate banana in the 153 length. The problem is that it's the wide version. I wear 10.5 boots, 5'10.5 & about 190 lbs. Will there be a difference in doing flatland spins and other tricks since the board is the wide version?

Oh! I'm also thinking of pairing it up with a pair of green flux tt30's. Good combo or no?

Do it, your feet are on the cusp of wide boardedness. I'm a little shorter than you and about the same weight, I'm on a 153 and it handles my weight fine, so you should be AOK dude.

Would it affect me in doing tricks? Ie: ground 180's, 360's, etc.? I'm just wondering if it's worth it to jump on this deal or just wait it out and get the regular version when another deal rolls around.

I can't see why it would affect it, you'll certainly limit the chance of toe drag too.

I've never ridden a wide board before, and people keep talking about wider boards being slower because of the longer distance between each link turn, and how you should get a narrower board for the park. As long as you say it's good, I'm pulling the trigger. Thanks!

Well, they're right about the narrower board being quicker edge to edge, im not so sure about the park though. I don't think you are really going to notice the difference. Hey, if you buy it and when it turns up, it's not right for you, then flick it off and get a normal width one. I think for your foot size though, you'll be ok with a wide.

153 wide Naner is 26.1cm at the waist. It will be wider at the inserts.

You have size 10.5 boots. If they are low profile, the wide will definitely be a problem with sluggish edge to edge.

If you have high profile boots, then you will probably be able to get away with it. In either scenario, you will have more sluggish edge to edge than with a normal width board.

Your stance angles also affect this. The wider your angles, the less overhang you're going to have. Too little overhang is almost (almost) as bad as too much overhang.

Are you looking to jib with the board? Even in a wide model, the 153 is going to flex softer than the rating with your 190lb frame.

Mehh....261mm isn't all that wide. It's really more of a mid-wide. With 10.5 boots it is wider than you NEED, but I can't imagine it would cause any real issues. Idealy you would go with a normal width board, but if it's a really good deal it's probably worth it.

Buy it, ride it, and if you really think the width causes issues (I highly doubt you'll notice) turn around and sell it for what you paid, or close if it's really a nice deal.
