New Boarder

hey guys whats up. im new to snowboarding, only been once and love it. i was thinking about buying my own gear. i need some help finding a board, bindings, an boots. ive got a budget of under $300. when i went, i rented a 155 (not sure how the size affects it) size board.

weight: 145, give or take 5 pounds
height: 5'9
age: 16
boot size: 10
riding style: freeride?

any help on finding me something would be great. the 155 board i used seemed pretty good. thx guys :)

New or Used? Also what have you been looking at or are interested in?

Thats a decent budget, about what I had. Search craigslist for board, my brother found a like-new condition Salomon Prospect for 135, and I got my Forum for 150...and check local stores for sales because its the end of the season (Dick's sporting goods still have stuff since I bought it a month or so ago, basically all of the bindings and whatnot are still there...found boots for 85 and bindings as well...)

And definately try on various boots to see how they fit

i am looking for a new board. one that will last me quite a while. what size boards should i be looking at?

I think you would need a board around sized 152-158. What boards, bindings, and boots have you been looking at, you have to a at least a idea on what you might want!

Im not pressuring you, you should already have an idea on what you might want before asking people what they think, this will help us so we can get a I idea on what you want and what might be better for you.

im looking at this dream fly spark snowboard for about $150, and standard Type A bindings. nothing fancy or expensive. btw how would u know whether the boards are for girls or boys?

It should say on the web.

At your weight I'd go with a 151-155 (155 for deeper snow etc.) You don't weigh much and board bigger than 153 will be a PITA at your weight. I've never heard of the board you are looking at so it could be anything, don't buy it at walmart
