I decided to get a GNU Riders Choice a while ago, and now that they released this years version I want to pull the trigger and buy one.
My info: - 6'3" 210 pounds - size 11 boot - I pretty much only do freeride on the east coast - I just started last season, but towards the end I was very comfortable on blue and some black trails. - Ive only used the burton boards that they rent out... I tried 164w/161w. I liked the 161w alot more, actually I only used the 164 once. (not sure if this is because I was just learning and the smaller board was easier, but I felt good on the 161) Questions: - With a size 11 boot and the board stats posted below, should I get the wide version? (I know it depends alot on the boot) - The pickle version of the RidersChoice is for more park riding right? I should just get the normal version? - which size? lol... its pretty much between 157.5/161.5/158w/162w - Im still open to other board suggestions and would love to hear em, but Im pretty much set on the GNU RC. - Dont know if this is worth comparing, but the t.rice 161.5 has contact lengtgh of 124.5 whereas the GNU RC 161.5 has a contact length of 122.5. I know this isnt much of a difference but would this make the RC 161.5 a more solid choice over the RC 157.5 (was leaning towards the 157.5 at first).

I say go with a wide past size 9. If you're a freerider, the Park Pickle wouldn't be such an awesome board for your riding style, I would lean towards the riders choice 157-161 for yourself, 161 might not have to be wide however.

161.5's waist width is only .1" bigger than the 157.5. Last edited by pwol; 08-08-2011 at 06:52 PM. |

I'd go 161. I'm 6'4 200 riding the 161.5 Trice and its a pretty good size. I think 157 would feel pretty small for freeride.
the RC wide might be something to consider since 254mm could be narrow for size 11 depending on your boot profile and stance. I wear size 12 with 260mm on the TRice and it works, so 254 might be okay for you. |

if it helps, i have the 2012 166W RC and i wear a 13, and weigh 265-270. i love the deck, i would say with my limited expertise to go with the 161.5 or the 162W. Considering the t rice is a "mid wide" it is 260mm at the waist and the RC 162W is 268mm, that is seriously F all. But in saying that 254mm on the 161.5 may be a little narrow if your boots are chunky. i guess it depends on how much deep carving you do and what your binding angles are, if you ride like 18 -15 im sure the 161.5 will be fine but if you ride 9 -6 it may not be. But as i said im no expert
