Hey guys. I'm 5'10' about 190 (not including clothes lol)
Im looking for a board I can take with my trips out west. I'm heading to Revy (all booked) in january and currently I dont think my solomon official 158 will cut it in the pow (i've tried and "rear leg burn" was an understatement - of course I ride dead center which doesn't help) sooo this new board will be obviously to tackle more pow conditions BUT i'm not looking for a "Pure Pow board"......anyhow I think i've settled on the arbor coda. My question is 157 or 161? I am thinking since this will be my second board, and given what i'm using it for i'm thinking the 161. has anyone ridden this board in this size and if so has anyone found it to be too big outside of the pow? Im wondering if I go with a 161 that I might not have to set back as much as i would if I went 157. Ideally I would like to be as close to center as possible but dont mind a slight set back. I ride switch alot. basically im wondering if the 161 is going to feel like im riding a big stiff canoe (I realize it's medium flex) but all the stats/flex tests i've seen done are on the 157 and I know from past experience that boards can get stiffer as you get larger - especially from a 157-161. thanks again gentlemen Last edited by marcdeo; 09-04-2011 at 02:38 PM. |

At 145 I would be on the 157 Coda as a mountain/pow slayer. Get the 161. BA had a 157 as his personal deck last season I believe and he's like 165ish.

I was definately leaning towards the 161 side of things, and you have convinced me. Thanks! Now if only I'll get lucky enough to grab a 2011 at the Toronto Ski and Snowboard show..... fingers crossed.
