Damn, I thought I found a deal when I got mine for $360. That's pretty good. Almost good enough that if you didn't like it, you might be able to break even on Craigslist.
I talked about the Optimistic in another thread. Love it for groomers, trees, and powder. Great edge hold, fast base, great float. Won't be as stiff at the Bill Goat according to specs. I recommend the board. I am sold on Yes for their freeride end of boards. |

I like it more for free riding. It's just very stable under the foot, since that is where the Camber zone are. The rocker zones are after the bindings. A few people have said that from a tech standpoint, it's nothing ground breaking, which I agree with. They just rocker it up for float. But the camber under foot really helps for loading, pop, and stability.
The other stuff is the opposite. Makes the board a little more loose (but that supposedly isn't a problem with the Magic and Billy Goat), and playful. I really don't understand why the Yes is so quick edge to edge. Someone could maybe explain that. You would think the Never Summer and Lib stuff would be better there. If you are looking for a freeride specific board though, I just think the CamRock tech is more stable. |

Nole,
I've read a couple reviews of the Optimistic that give me concerns as to the build quality. I'm assuming that you haven't noticed any issues with your board? Yes. The Optimistic Snowboard 2010/2011 from Departmentofgoods.com Yes. Optimistic Rocker Snowboard 2011 | evo outlet |
