Forum Rat for park mountain use? - Snowboarding Forum

So i am thinking about getting a Forum Rat because i love the flax and design and shape of the board, but i know it is made for urban use. I do not do urban i do mountain park riding, would this still be a good investment, or will this board not hold up outside of urban territory?

Well it is a snowboard with glass and edges... so it will snowboard on mountains. But why this? Flex? Its just a jib board, others have similar flex. Shape? It's literally the most basic shape you can find. Again, many others have this... So Price is pretty much all that can be motivating this... Yes?

yeah definitely, i feel like its just a really good board for a really good price lol, just wondering how good it'll hold up for all mountain use...

It's going to be good for taking hits on urban features regardless if they are in the park or in an actual urban environment. I demo'd a Forum Contract 146 (145 lbs) which is standard issue urban board and it's fine for hitting all sorts of boxes, bars, rails and things like that so I'd imagine the Rat having the same core, camber and similar design would be similar.

Riding it around is alright on groomers and it has decent grip but you're not going to be going fast one, because the base isn't particularly fast and two, it chatters like hell and gets squirrely at speed. It's fun for butter though, because the Pop Camber (DC's new Lock and Load camber looks similar) has a nice flat spot for pressing making buttering pretty chore free.

Mind you, these apply to the Contract so might not be perfectly applicable to the Rat....

You can say its a board for a really good price... But a REALLY GOOD board for a really good price? No. It's meat. Not even meat and potatoes. Just the meat. As little board as you can get and still have standard ingredients. A really good board for a really good price is something like the Flow Verve or Signal park.

If you need a board to kill get it. But don't expect anything else.
