Well K2 build quality is better than Mervin. So there's that. I personally put the Fastplant in my top 10 park decks for 2012. I don't recommend it much as it is a different sorta board. All that bamboo makes for a different feel that you have to like to like the board. Organic flex. I like organic flex and the board works for me. BA did not like it. Organic flex usually isnt his deal. It tends to work best for lighter guys like me.
Personally, Fastplant > Pickle. Every time for me.

Since when do riders make a board brand good? subjective you already said that. So is Signal and Smokin and NS and many others... great? Volcom (Signal) has Guch. Venture has Olofsson. Bianchi has Cardiel. Burton has Terje... NS Did it first. Flow and Nitro did it better. Baker hard core? I don't get your point. Mervin doesn't own that... Who gives a poop about your very biased opinion?

That's pretty close to what I got goin on. So you're primed to like the Fastplant, but I can't guarantee it. maybe check out the 150 or 153 Arbor Westmark if you want edge tech or a 152 Signal Park Flat if that isn't important.

What is this 1995 Go to baker, see what the locals ride. I'm just here to spread the Mervin love when you put them down. Everyone on here, is waiting to hear what I have to say. Not you. Next Season we're riding Nivek, I want to see if you are worthy of all your opinions. |

Rode both for a while last year, I guess they added carbon to the fastplant this year. If I was only riding the park I would pick the fastplant, its very stable and predictable, take it out of the park and it is just way to damp, and slow to react (I feel this way about all the flat boards I've rode). No fun in turns, to soft to charge. The pickle is tons of fun to rip around the mountain. Stiff enough to charge into natural hits, turns super quick and holds a great edge, the center reverse works great in pow. Its less damp and turns so quick its not as stable as the fastplant. I didn't dig the asym side cut, the heel edge is just too tight for my style.
On durability I'll say this, my fastplant flew off the ski rack at 60mph and then kinda got hit by a semi, its perfectly fine. The parkpickle delamed in the middle of the heel edge after ten days, warrantied it through mervin and traded it for a 11 12 skate banana to get away from the asym edge.
